OX513A mosquitoes are genetically modified to produce offspring that die before adulthood. The mosquitoes are made dependent on tetracycline, and if they don't have access to it, they die. When male OX513A mosquitoes mate with wild females, over 95% of their offspring express the lethality trait.

Home Made Repellents

These are abundant and many have created their own versions. Some work and some don't. Everything comes down to a science! Creating the perfect repellent takes time and a lot of trials. Our blood type also plays a big factor. Some of the home-made repellents can be toxic to children or pets also, so you have to be extremely careful in creating your own.

How Do I Use BiteRepel Outdoors

BiteRepel Outdoors comes in a 500ml bottle. This concentrated formula works great as-is, however, should you wish to dilute it, you may do so by adding upto a maximum 1 litre of water to 500ml of product - Thus yielding 1.5 litres of product.

Directions: Pour contents into diffuser and leave product on for 30 min before sitting outside.

For severe mosquito infestation, contents may be poured into a small pot and left outside all day. The sun’s heat will naturally vaporize the product to provide protection. However; heating this product in a pot to speed up the projection, protection & coverage process on an outdoor mini electric plate / hot plate is highly recommended if there are large number of mosquitoes in your area.

Heating up the product provides the best form of coverage and protection.

Does not need to be boiled.

What is the Best Mosquito Repellent that Actually Works?

The goto product used to be Deet, Citronella, Picaridin etc. Times have changed and our thinking should also refect the times.

Extensive research into various insect and bug repellent products has revealed a glaring truth: traditional "repellents" simply don't cut it against the latest strains of mosquitoes. These outdated solutions have failed to keep pace with mosquito evolution.

The vast majority of available products, even those boasting ingredients like Deet or Citronella, have proven futile against the newer variants of wild and genetically modified mosquitoes emerging since 2022.

BiteRepel is the future of repellents - it works on a wide range of bugs & insects and is a natural product that is safer than the chemicals we were so used to using!

What is the Strongest Natural Mosquito Repellent?

There are a bunch of effective natural repellents to be found. The internet is filled with thoughts and ideas of what works and what doesn't. With BiteRepel, it's no longer a guessing game! A lot of time and research has gone into what works best - without it causing irritation or harm to sensitive skin.

BiteRepel has proven itself to be the most effective repellent out there.

How To Get Rid Of Mosquitoes in Your Yard - Like a Pro!

BiteRepel Outdoors is a great way to do just that. You can also mix it with equal parts water and spray it in areas of your garden that you think are the source. BiteRepel Outdoors acts as a repellent, so that means that insects want to stay away from it. They just move along and find a new place to call home, because your place is no longer a comfortable environment for breeding.

What Scares Off Mosquitoes?

Upon application of a repellent (generally speaking), the agents are partially absorbed through the skin and into our bodies, where they are metabolized and excreted. However, a significant portion gradually evaporates. It is not these vapors that deter mosquitoes. Instead, mosquitoes are primarily repelled after direct contact with treated skin. This explains why mosquitoes may still land on you (without biting) even when an effective repellent has been applied.

The duration of the repellent's effectiveness varies greatly among individuals and the base product used by the manufacturer. This variation is primarily due to differences in the composition and amount of certain fatty acids on the skin, which influence an individual's attractiveness to mosquitoes. Additionally, the duration of action depends on the physical properties of the skin. If a product evaporates quickly or is rapidly absorbed, its duration of effectiveness will be shorter. That’s why we manufacture the BiteRepel brand, by using a complete essential oil-based formula, that smells nice and lasts the longest and is the most effective – short and long term!

The Truth - Anti-Mosquito Wristbands, Patches & Similar Products

No, these products are ineffective at repelling mosquitoes. At best, they offer aesthetic appeal. Moreover, the so-called anti-mosquito patches that some parents place on their toddlers' clothing can pose a safety hazard, as they might be ingested by young children.

Important Facts About Deet, Picaridin, IR3535

DEET (N, N-diethyl-m-toluamide) is a synthetic compound developed by the U.S. Army in 1946. It has been proven effective at repelling mosquitoes for up to six hours or longer, depending on the concentration applied. While DEET is effective, it may cause skin irritation, and some individuals may find the smell unpleasant. It can also damage certain materials, such as plastics and synthetic fabrics. The greasy feeling it leaves on the skin is another drawback.

Picaridin, a synthetic chemical developed by Bayer in the 1980s, has gained popularity as an alternative to DEET. It is reported to be just as effective as DEET against mosquitoes but without the greasy feel and potential material damage. Picaridin has been used in Europe and Australia since 1998 and was approved in the U.S. in 2005. Technical grade picaridin has low acute toxicity when ingested orally, applied dermally, or inhaled. It's classified as Toxicity Category IV for acute inhalation toxicity and primary dermal irritation, and Toxicity Category III for acute oral, acute dermal, and primary eye irritation.

DEET and IR3535 may cause eye irritation, and DEET may cause skin irritation. The CDC advises not to use Oil of Lemon Eucalyptus or PMD on very young children, so avoid it while pregnant. It may cause allergic skin reactions. Wash hands after applying repellent and wash repellent-coated skin at the end of the day

IR3535 (ethyl 3-[acetyl(butyl)amino]propanoate) is an insect repellent that is generally considered safe and effective for humans. However, it can cause some adverse effects, including: Eye irritation, Skin irritation, Plastic and fabric damage - IR3535 can melt some plastics and damage some fabrics. Overexposure: If IR3535 is used in combination with sunscreen products that need to be reapplied every couple of hours, the user could be overexposed.

BiteRepel is a safer, more effective repellent and an all-natural alternative to the chemicals listed above. BiteRepel Topical is long lasting with a pleasant smell, that does not require constant reapplication.
